On 28 October 2020 a workshop was arranged for the girl children of the shelter house of KK Foundation. The program was jointly organized by Project: Konna and KKF.
Till today persistent harmful socio-cultural norms, stigma, misconceptions and taboos around menstruation, continue to lead to exclusion and discrimination of women and girls of the society. Often experts state that Stigma around menstruation has significant health impacts on women’s and girls health .Due to stigma and a lack of sexual education, menstruation knowledge remains limited leaving many girls with negative and ambivalent feelings and experiencing psycho-social stress, which also impacts their ability to learn.
With the help of this workshop foundation took an initiative to overcome the stigma and shame generated by stereotypes around menstruation with the hope to limit the severe impacts on all aspects of its houses’ female children. In the workshop several activities and points were discussed regarding the issue for the betterment of the shelter house children.
